(Missourinet) -- The Senate Committee on Governmental Accountability and Fiscal Oversight is considering a proposal that would ask Missourians to vote on a constitutional amendment guaranteeing freedom of choice in health care. Full Story

Pseudoephedrine bill draws debate in Jeff City 1/28/10
(StL P-D) -- Lobbyists and police officers took turns for four hours Wednesday launching arguments for and against the idea of Missouri requiring prescriptions for pseudoephedrine, a decongestant that is methamphetamine's main ingredient. Full Story

To battle meth scourge, Missouri might require prescriptions for some cold medications 1/27/10
(KC Star) -- A bill to require prescriptions for cold medications containing pseudoephedrine got its first hearing in the Missouri House on Wednesday. Full Story

Governor's budget based on speculation, brighter outlook 1/25/10
(Columbia Tribune) -- A number of ships have to come in for Gov. Jay Nixon if his proposed budget for the next fiscal year is going to work.  Linda Luebbering, state budget director, said Congress is going to have to approve an extension of a federal funding program that could send Missouri another $300 million. And the economy is going to have to turn around enough to recharge state tax revenues so Missouri collects about $276 million more in general revenue next year compared to this year. Full Story

(SE Missourian) -- An increase in the incidents of manufacturing and possessing methamphetamine in 2009 has convinced the Southeast Missouri Drug Task Force that lawmakers need to do more than move pseudoephedrine, a key component in making the drug, behind the pharmacy counter. Full Story
