Vaccine List Expanded

Pharmacist Administered Vaccination List Expanded

The Missouri Pharmacy Association pushed legislation during the 2014 Legislative Session to get the list of approved pharmacist administered vaccinations expanded. Senate Bill 808 and Senate Bill 754 were signed by the governor and will be implemented into state statute effective Aug. 28. The expanded vaccination list includes hepatitis A, hepatitis B, diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis vaccines by written protocol authorized by physicians.

As it stands currently, no additional training will need to be taken by pharmacists outside of the standard Missouri Board of Pharmacy vaccination requirements. The only action that will need to be taken by pharmacists is to update their protocols to include the new vaccinations. The same reporting requirements are still mandatory.

The Missouri Board of Pharmacy will be releasing additional information in the coming weeks, so please be on the lookout for this information. MPA will be sure to share this with you as well in our weekly update upon its release.
