Pharmacy Practice Workgroup

As you are aware, there is a lot of discussion regarding the future of the practice of pharmacy. Missouri, like many other states, is faced with the challenge of how to address the changes that are taking place. The critical areas of discussion include topics such as scope of practice issues, provider status, technician roles and responsibilities, remote dispensing; to briefly name a few.

To provide a forum for these discussions in Missouri, the Missouri Pharmacy Association is hosting a Missouri Pharmacy Practice Work Group to gather insight and guidance from pharmacy leaders in our state regarding your vision for the future of pharmacy practice in Missouri and then to begin the development of a strategic initiative to address the critical issues.

The first day of the two-day event will be a visionary town hall-style meeting, open to those involved in Missouri pharmacy, including pharmacists, pharmacy students, pharmacy owners, and other pharmacy business partners from across our state. They will be given time to address the Work Group to present their ideas for the future of the profession. The second day will utilize input from Day One, in addition to other background information, to have a more detailed discussion. The goal is to begin the development of a “preliminary blueprint” for our state to move the profession forward in this new health care marketplace.

I am writing to invite you to participate in this unique opportunity. Your perspective will be critical to our ongoing process. To assist in the discussions on Day Two, we have secured the participation of three pharmacy consultants from across the country to help to facilitate the process and frame the discussion based on their experiences in other states.
